PROGRAM: External Relations
POSITION: External Relations Manager (Southeastern Kentucky)
REPORTS TO: Director of Program Development
Responsibilities and Requirements:
The External Relations Manager, based in Southeastern Kentucky, is responsible for promoting awareness and securing support for Volunteers of America programs in the Southeastern Kentucky region. Primary responsibilities include leading fundraising and community engagement activities for Volunteers of America Mid-States in the region. The position also helps manage program development projects. Reporting to the Louisville, Kentucky headquarters, the manager builds key relationships through participation in civic organizations, interactions with government officials and the media, and cultivation of potential and existing partners, volunteers and donors of Volunteers of America Mid-States. The position will support the advisory council for Southeastern Kentucky in order to advance the success of programs in communities served by Volunteers of America.
The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree and three years of successful multi-faceted development experience including major gifts, special events, corporate relations, grant writing, communications, and public relations. Four years’ qualifying, progressive experience may substitute for degree requirement. Excellent oral and written communications skills; experience working with volunteers and boards a plus. Knowledge of MS Office required.
